This entry-level position is based in our Rochester, MN office, and preferred candidates should be willing to work on-site to foster teamwork, expertise, and collaboration.

As a Mechanical Engineer in Training at Widseth, you'll work alongside a team of engineering professionals on projects across Minnesota and North Dakota. You will be involved in working on a variety of projects including educational, municipal, commercial, and industrial buildings. The position focus will be on:

  • Designing, implementing, and overseeing the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems for new buildings or retrofitting existing buildings.
  • Performs engineering tasks, either independently or as a member of a team to meet project objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including developing technical reports.
  • Produce and review work using computer aided design software, such as Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Field verification and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Working efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines, as well as balancing multiple projects.

To be considered for this position you'll need to meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
  • EIT Status or ability to attain within one year
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation is preferred but is not required.
  • Demonstration of good communication skills and client management techniques.
