YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Transportation Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Assisting in the planning and design of transportation-related facilities.
- Designing roadway alignments, 3D models, intersections, drainage, utilities, and transportation facilities using industry-standard software.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive transportation plans and designs.
- Developing roadway geometry and cross sections.
- Preparing engineering calculations and technical reports.
- Preparing engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensuring projects adhere to quality control and safety standards.
- Leading multiple tasks from preliminary design to construction support.
- Preparing contract task order proposals.
- Conducting field visits during design and/or construction.
- Participating in client and public meetings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- 5+ years of experience in transportation facility and highway design
- Experience working with Maryland Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Transportation, and Maryland city/county government transportation projects
- Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Bentley InRoads, Autodesk Civil 3D, and AutoTURN
- Maryland or Virginia Professional Engineer license
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Excellent presentation skills
- Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, VDOT, and MDOT design codes and standards
