Summary:

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent and is responsible for quality control, job site safety and timely completion of each project he / she supports. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the successful, safe, and profitable execution of jobs, in accordance with established gross profit guidelines, while building and maintaining strong customer relationships through highly-responsive service, reliability, and quality projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Superintendent to oversee total construction effort to assure that projects are constructed in accordance with specifications, budgets, and schedules,
  • Interfaces with client, governmental agencies, and union representatives, subcontractors, and applicable company personnel,
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises through Foreman, the activities of all company personnel and assigned projects,
  • Assures that all company, client, and governmental policies, procedures and standards are adhered to, and interprets policies as required,
  • Maintains projects log and documentation records and completes all paperwork associated with the use of manpower, materials, and equipment,
  • Assists with the implementation and interpretation of safety rules and programs. Provides assistance to engineering and other company personnel as required,
  • Makes recommendations which concerning hiring, promoting, demoting, transferring, salary action, disciplinary action, and termination of employees on assigned projects,
  • Communicates daily with the Project Manager on site activities, issues, and progress,
  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight of operations at various construction projects,
  • Schedules subcontractors to complete project tasks on time and within budget,
  • Develops scope of work to be completed by subcontractors,
  • Inspects and evaluates work completed by subcontractors,
  • Responsible for day-to-day construction activities including maintaining schedules, coordinating work with internal resources and subcontractors, managing materials, evaluating change orders and interfacing with stakeholders,
  • Works with Project Managers to ensure that project costs, schedules and quality are maintained,
  • Prepares daily reports that identify activities completed or issues encountered,
  • Coordinates with third-party entities or regulatory agencies,
  • Performs quality control activities to ensure error-free work, and
  • Handle related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish,
  • Estimating experience,
  • Ability to read blueprints,
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification, and,
  • Scheduling procedures, safety regulations, quality assurance and control standards,
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which includes all eligible booster shots, except when vaccination is not medically advised or violates your sincerely held religious beliefs in violation of EEO laws, and
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug & alcohol screening.

Note:

This position is considered Safety-Sensitive, and therefore subject to various scheduled and unscheduled screenings for controlled substances.
