General Summary:
The Fabrication Project Manager supports the Shop Manager and Field Supervisors in planning, scheduling, and coordinating production operations. This hands-on role ensures safety, quality, and efficiency in shop workflows while managing resources, schedules, and personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Review blueprints for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before distribution to the shop floor.
Assign and manage work orders for welders and fabricators to meet deadlines.
Track project progress and adjust plans to ensure timely completion.
Monitor and maintain steel and parts inventory.
Arrange and oversee shipping of completed products.
Assist in coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment for field crews.
Enforce safety policies and procedures.
Ensure all equipment operators are trained and qualified.
Manage preventative maintenance programs for fabrication equipment.
Inspect projects, tools, and work areas for safety and specification compliance.
Mentor employees to promote best practices and safe work environments.
Perform additional duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and metalworking tools/machinery (e.g., CNC plasma, laser).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, and CNC software.
Excellent math, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to lead teams, make decisions under pressure, and solve problems in real-time.
Clear communication skills for assigning work, reporting progress, and training employees.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; college or trade school preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in fabrication, or a combination of education and work experience.
Additional Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older.
Valid driver's license required.
Must pass PPPO, General Manufacturing Physical, and Drug Screen.
