General Summary:

The Fabrication Project Manager supports the Shop Manager and Field Supervisors in planning, scheduling, and coordinating production operations. This hands-on role ensures safety, quality, and efficiency in shop workflows while managing resources, schedules, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review blueprints for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before distribution to the shop floor.

  • Assign and manage work orders for welders and fabricators to meet deadlines.

  • Track project progress and adjust plans to ensure timely completion.

  • Monitor and maintain steel and parts inventory.

  • Arrange and oversee shipping of completed products.

  • Assist in coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment for field crews.

  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all equipment operators are trained and qualified.

  • Manage preventative maintenance programs for fabrication equipment.

  • Inspect projects, tools, and work areas for safety and specification compliance.

  • Mentor employees to promote best practices and safe work environments.

  • Perform additional duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and metalworking tools/machinery (e.g., CNC plasma, laser).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, and CNC software.

  • Excellent math, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead teams, make decisions under pressure, and solve problems in real-time.

  • Clear communication skills for assigning work, reporting progress, and training employees.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college or trade school preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in fabrication, or a combination of education and work experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Must pass PPPO, General Manufacturing Physical, and Drug Screen.
