A. Experience, Knowledge and Skill
- Previous Experience Required:
Working knowledge of plumbing systems, mechanical systems, and medical gas systems. Three (3) years' experience in hospital or related industry. Ability to interpret prints and drawings.
- Specialized or Technical Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent, technical trade school training, medical gas certification helpful but not required. Journeyman Plumber License.
- Manual or Physical Skill Required:
Must be able to properly operate electronic and mechanical devices. For insurance purposes, must be 19 years of age or older to drive North Oaks Health System's vehicles.
- Physical Effort Required:
Frequent walking and climbing of stairs and ladders. Intermittent stooping bending and crawling while making repairs to equipment, steady muscular exertion, demanding considerable strength. The ability to lift 100 lbs.
B. Working Conditions
- Hazards:
Handling dangerous chemicals, threatening acid burns and also includes possibility of falling while climbing ladders to reach equipment, electric shock, oxygen combustion and exposure to excessive heat, hazards exist with the use of mechanical equipment. Infectious waste hazard.
- Adverse Working Conditions:
Environment is occasionally stressful.

This position requires contact with patients, employees, the general public and with other companies.
- Contacts with Other Departments:
This position requires frequent contact with other departments and often with Department Directors.
D. Responsibilities:

Much of the work required in this position is done without direct or immediate supervision. The ability to work independently is essential.
Responsibilities:
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Does repairs, maintenance, alterations, and additions to the building, grounds, and equipment according to objectives set by the Construction Director.
Ensures completion of documentation requirements.
Assist in the development of and implements work methods and standards.
Maintains availability of spare parts through accurate records and inventories. Periodically inventories spare parts.
Provide technical assistance to employees, monitors work methods for compliance.
Communicates with Construction Coordinator on a daily basis. Provides recommendations concerning department performance or efficiency improvements.
Provides input into the development of Department Policies and Procedures.
Assist in developing of department budget, record keeping, statistics, etc.
Maintains records, reports statistics, files, logs as required.
Attend meetings as required. Participates on committees.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations etc.
Follows North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
