Grid Architecture Innovation leads the development of new grid architecture strategies and actionable plan, including grid modernization and digitization, to support utility's long-term goal. Key Duties include:
Project Planning and Management: Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of projects. Conduct technical evaluations and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
Project Execution: Lead and manage complex initiatives (ENCORE: Engineering Network Concept to Orchestrate Resilient Electrification) focused on digital grid architecture innovation, including sensor data strategy, intelligent grid planning and execution roadmap, and autonomous adaptive grid operation roadmap. This involves developing and implementing roadmap and actionable plan to advance the grid modernization and digitalization ensuring a resilient and efficient grid.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, IT, and regulatory affairs, to ensure project alignment with SCE's strategic goals and other company initiatives.
Communication: Create and execute comprehensive communication plans to ensure effective dissemination of information across the organization. This includes identifying key messages, target audience, and appropriate communication channels.

Responsibilities
- Independently manages technical activities of one or more large, long-term projects or program of high-risk and complexity with responsibility for results in terms of costs, schedule, methods and project objectives
- Develops strategy and business plans, objectives and initiatives for engineering projects and seeks approval from management in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and guidelines; with review of a senior manager or principal manager; leads the development, and management of the engineering schedule; leads technical change control process
- Provides inputs to organizational objectives and governance and ensures delivery of results
- Engages regularly with senior management as a key consultant on critical business issues. Regularly contributes to materials for executive and senior management on project related issues and prescribed milestones for approval
- Leads engineering design reviews and evaluation of technical project documents to identify gaps, errors, or areas for improvement. Reviews engineering drawings, specifications, and site plans to ensure constructability and compliance with regulations and identifies issues or gaps proactively
- Oversee development of project execution plans, procedures, testing protocols, and quality control programs that align with engineering requirements
- Facilitates integration of engineering design deliverables, reviews, drawings, models, specs, calculations into overall project execution plans
- Coordinate multiple internal matrixed and outside stakeholder input and technical deliverables to support the overall project progress. Apply broad technical knowledge and experience and engage SMEs to provide technical judgment and experience to enable risk-informed technical oversight of projects
- Develop contract bid specifications that include project scope, specifications, requirements, performance and acceptance criteria, etc. Ensure work scope is developed so that technical risk and value engineering decisions are made in a way that benefits the overall project and company needs
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience in engineering project management.
- Posses a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline.
- Seven or more years of experience in project management, with a focus on grid architecture or related fields.
- Strong understanding of grid modernization technologies, including advanced planning and operational tools.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent communication or interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- PMP or similar project management certification is highly desirable
- Experience leading enterprise-wide projects or programs with long-term business implications and involving cross-functional teams / technical experts from multiple disciplines
- Strong understanding of grid modernization and digitalization technologies, including digital twin platforms, AI/ML integration
- Strong understanding of utility planning, engineering, and operation
- Experience in developing strategic insights into new value creation opportunities and business models driven by new technological innovations.
- Experience with development of roadmaps, governance, and technology implementation strategies
- Ability to understand and interpret technical standards, documents and procedures
- Experience communicating complex analyses and information to senior management
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Being comfortable in an unstructured work environment and able to cut through uncertainty to proactively move ideas forward
- Experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning or strategy/management consulting a plus
Additional Information
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
