As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), SDB provides specialized architecture, engineering, and project management consulting services to clients nationwide. With offices throughout the Pacific Northwest, we promote a collaborative, solution-oriented work environment where teams tackle complex infrastructure and facility design challenges.
In this role, you will serve as a Project Manager within our Design-Bid-Build division, overseeing multi-disciplinary design teams on federal projects across the continental United States. You will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring compliance with client standards and delivering high-quality, best-value solutions that reflect SDB's commitment to performance and integrity.
Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in architecture, engineering design, or related project delivery roles, following completion of a bachelor's degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field is required. In lieu of a qualifying degree, candidates may be considered with a current and active Professional Engineer (PE) license, Registered Architect (RA) license, or American Institute of Architects (AIA) membership, provided they demonstrate equivalent qualifications through licensure and relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive experience managing A/E design projects for federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), U.S. Navy, NAVFAC, USACE, and the U.S. Air Force.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and Bluebeam; strong digital skills to support documentation, project tracking, and client presentations.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit in support of design coordination and review.
  • Proven ability to lead stakeholder coordination, client engagement, and design negotiations across all phases of project development-from planning and design through construction administration.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high-quality results within established budgets and deadlines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of project delivery-including planning, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration-primarily for federal and state agency clients.
  • Serve as the primary client interface, overseeing project execution to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and performance expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Direct and coordinate site investigations, facility assessments, and existing condition surveys to inform design decisions and ensure constructability.
  • Facilitate internal design coordination meetings, stakeholder engagement sessions, and client presentations, including delivery of technical content and project updates to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the preparation and quality control of design deliverables-drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages-ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and federal standards (e.g., UFC, VA TIL, IBC, NFPA).
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external consultants to develop cohesive, innovative, and technically sound design solutions.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews of construction documents and ensure rigorous application of firm-wide quality assurance protocols across all submittals.
  • Provide construction phase services, including submittal and RFI review, site visits, punch list development, and construction progress monitoring.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices and design standards.
  • Manage consultant scopes of work, support contract negotiation, and collaborate with contracts/procurement teams on proposal and fee reviews.
  • Uphold ethical standards, maintain compliance with SDB internal policies, and ensure responsible stewardship of project resources.
  • Support broader organizational goals by contributing to special projects and firm-wide initiatives as needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
