Job Summary:
BCM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of high-value residential construction and remodeling projects from inception to completion. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and adhere to BCM's quality and safety standards. This role requires a proactive leader with exceptional organizational and communication abilities, capable of navigating complex projects and fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive construction plans, including sequencing, logistics, and resource allocation, to ensure efficient project flow.
Schedule Management: Monitor and maintain project schedules, proactively identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions to ensure timely completion.
Budget Adherence: Manage project costs, track expenditures, and ensure all work remains within the allocated budget.
Quality Control: Enforce BCM's ultra-high-end quality standards throughout all phases of construction, conducting regular inspections and ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
Safety Management: Implement and enforce strict safety protocols, maintaining an orderly and secure job site in compliance with state regulations and company policies.
Subcontractor Management: Oversee, coordinate, and manage all subcontractors, ensuring their work aligns with project specifications, schedules, and quality requirements.
Communication & Reporting: Serve as the primary on-site point of contact, facilitating clear and consistent communication with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and the internal project team. Provide regular, detailed progress reports.
Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve on-site issues, challenges, and emergencies with minimal disruption to project progress.
Building Code Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal building codes and minimum building standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in construction supervision, with a significant portion dedicated to ultra-high-end residential projects.
Proven ability to read, interpret, and thoroughly understand complex architectural and engineering plans.
Comprehensive understanding of all phases of the construction process, from groundbreaking to final handover.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for report writing, scheduling, and general correspondence.
Adept at email communication and efficient photo transfer from mobile devices to computers for documentation.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to unforeseen challenges.
Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate, guide, and manage diverse teams of skilled tradespeople and subcontractors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and professionally.
Possession of a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to embrace new construction methodologies and technologies.
Reliable transportation is mandatory.
Ability to work effectively in the Malibu area and throughout the greater Los Angeles region.
