Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer creates technical solutions to meet market needs using components, circuits and firmware while utilizing generally accepted engineering methods and practices. The level of work is typically in the medium range not only in complexity but also in scope and duration of tasks. The Electrical Engineer works independently or under the direction of more senior engineers and is able to give work direction to junior engineers and technicians. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, curious about learning and have shown a solid growth progression in electronics design in the early stages of their career.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs and creates power system and electronic solutions.
  • Research new ideas and concepts to solve market problems.
  • Creates electrical solution concepts.
  • Creates test firmware solutions as needed, only for circuit development.
  • Creates prototypes and models for proof of concept validation.
  • Refines concepts into solid technical solutions.
  • Schematic and PCB layout using Altium.
  • Specification of wire and cable designs.
  • Code generation and debug using tools appropriate to the MCU.
  • BOM creation using Oracle.
  • Design and test to global safety and EMC regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate and report to internal and external (ODM) customers.
  • Test creation, analysis, and reporting including specifying and purchasing test equipment or external lab time.
  • Collaborate with internal and external (ODM) design teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, product managers, and sourcing.
  • Integrate, document, and test designs over the product development lifecycle including end-of-life components and products.
  • Participate actively in design reviews.
  • Additional duties as requested.
  • Supports "Lean Business Enterprise" initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.

Position Requirements (Knowledge and Experience):

  • Mid-level experience with Altium Designer preferred, but can be learned in the position. Solid understanding of PCB layout principles required. Knowledge and experience with Altium 365 and Altium Vault a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with other development tools typical for design of electronic and embedded devices in the product development lifecycle.
  • Mid-level or higher proficiency with electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzer etc.
  • Experience with SolidWorks a plus, but not required. Can be learned in the position.
  • Experience with Oracle a plus, but not required. Can be learned in the position.
  • Mid-level experience designing to global EMC and safety requirements of ITE, medical, and furniture products, or similar standards.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in the design of DC-DC power electronics and mixed signal electronics design.
  • Battery pack design experience a plus, but not required.
  • RF design experience a plus, but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person and remotely with customer management and others on the design team.
  • Must be able to travel internationally (Asia, Mexico).
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job as described to you for the position.
