Bridge Crane Operator

The Bridge Crane Operator operates equipment to move and handle petcoke within our customer's plant. This involves using a bridge crane to lift and move petcoke, in a coker pit area, to different locations for processing or storage. The successful candidate will safely perform the basic tasks required to load, unload, and move petroleum coke at the facility.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Train and Learn to operate the DCU Bridge Crane
  • Train and Learn to operate the Coke Cutting Equipment
  • Operate the conveyor and the crusher
  • Complete and maintain the required daily paperwork
  • Follow proper safety rules and operating procedures to support zero safety objectives
  • Perform general cleanup of the entire DCU, keeping the ground clear of spilled coke and washing down equipment
  • Housekeeping duties, including keeping offices, restrooms, break rooms and work rooms clean and tidy

Requirements of a Successful Material Handling Operator:

  • Bridge Crane experience preferred
  • Knowledge of handling systems (Conveyors and Feeders)
  • 2 years of refinery, plant or industrial experience
  • Current TWIC and DL
  • Ability to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Environmental & Safety awareness
  • Cooperates and works well with others in either one-on-one or group situations
  • Must be able to work with a team, take directions from supervisors(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
  • Contributes actively to team objectives, takes on responsibilities, and is responsible for actions
  • Must be able to work a rotating (days/nights)12-hour shift to include weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary (Hands On)

Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:

  • Physically able to handle large tools
  • Work in an environment containing Coke dust, hazardous noise and in hot or cold environments
  • Ability to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend ladders and stairs, and should not have a fear of heights
