Civil Engineer (3-5 years)

LaBella is currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to joinour Civil Engineering Division in the Hoover office, supporting our client portfolio of municipal, utility, industrial, county, state, federal, and private clients in Alabama and across the southeast.This position will work on local projects as well as working collaboratively with personnel in other LaBella offices.

Duties:

• Work collaboratively on planning, design, and/or research on general civil engineering projects.
• Produce drawings using computer aided drafting systems AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Storm water and wastewater infiltration testing and design.
• Pavement evaluation and assessment.
• Development of detailed construction drawings and specifications for steep slopes, site retaining walls, culverts, and pavement sections.
• Field oversight of subsurface investigations and soil investigation services. Flexible schedule to arrive at project sites at required times, out of town work periodically.
• Perform technical analysis and provide parameters for design based on subsurface investigation results.
• Prepare interpretive engineering reports.
• Perform field inspections during the construction phase, as needed.
• Evaluate, analyze, interpret, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for civil engineering projects.
• Prepare and review drawings to communicate engineering or architectural ideas.
• Perform design tasks and prepare portions of project documents.
• Assist in the preparation of project specifications and design reports.
• Assist with Construction Administration tasks such as attending construction meetings and reviewing construction documents.
• Collaborate with other divisions and departments in a professional manner.
• Keep informed of new developments and requirements of civil engineering and civil design.
