ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Concrete Superintendent to oversee concrete crews and be responsible for project execution, scheduling, bidding, safety, and quality throughout preconstruction, construction, and close-out activities. Vertical and horizontal construction experience necessary and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers experience is a plus.

Job Functions:

PRE-CONSTRUCTION

  • Reviews plans and specifications (general familiarization) and bids concrete scope of work
  • Attends pre-construction/safety meeting with Project Manager
  • Attends owner pre-construction meeting
  • Initiates and coordinates mobilization of equipment and personnel
  • Finalizes the schedule and tracks progress with Project Manager
  • Consult on hiring new staff for project execution
  • Periodic travel to attend pre-bid walks required

CONSTRUCTION

  • Oversees foreman and crew for concrete foundations, flatwork and site work
  • Coordinates inspections and testing with foreman
  • Coordinates daily/weekly logs and inspection sheets to ensure project documentation is up to date
  • Execute and monitor project safety plans. Lead and supervise a team of concrete workers in performing tasks related to concrete construction including concrete preparation, placement, installation, finishing, and curing
  • Develop submittals as required by project drawings and specifications
  • Consult blueprints, drawings and plans to ensure concrete structures are accurately placed
  • Ensure that formwork and shoring are erected, supported and dismantled based on engineering designs, drawings and specifications
  • Inspect concrete after formwork and shoring have been removed and instruct concrete laborers and finishers on how to correct defects and concrete roughness
  • Plan and organize daily work schedules to ensure the timely completion of projects
  • Update project 3-week look ahead schedules
  • Plan projects and manpower regionally
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on proper construction techniques
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment
  • Ensure that all machinery and tools are available, and everything is maintained in proper working order
  • Perform inspections and evaluations to ensure the crew's performance satisfactory
  • Ensure all materials, supplies, tools, and equipment are procured in a timely manner
  • Monitor daily procedures to ensure that quality is maintained and that schedules are being met
  • Coordinate daily progress reports and ensure critical information is communicated to supervisor
  • Periodic travel to project sites to oversee and coordinate work required

CONSTRUCTION CLOSE-OUT

  • Schedules and coordinates punch list work
  • Coordinates the timely completion of as-builts
  • Review and deliver close-out documents to Project Manager as needed
  • Initiates and coordinates demobilization of equipment and personnel

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • 5 years of relevant construction experience
  • Procedural knowledge of construction trades
  • 8+ years of experience in concrete construction; formwork, rebar installation, and concrete finishing techniques
  • Completed OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety & Health training within the last 5 years
  • Attendance at a professionally accredited QC management course preferred (e.g. conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or Naval Facility Engineering Command, including a current certification within the last five years).
  • Current First aid/CPR certification
  • Intermediate proficiency in ProCore, BlueBeam, Microsoft Word, Estimating Software and Excel
  • Intermediate proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Intermediate proficiency in problem solving
  • Fluent in the English language
  • Pass security clearance check by the Air Force
