Overview
The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for installation, repair, maintenance, and modifications to facilities and structures to include water closets, urinals, back flow preventers, drain lines, showers, compressed air lines and others. The Journeyman Plumber will perform the duties as required by State Law and Local plumbing codes.
Responsibilities
- Performs troubleshooting operations by diagnosing malfunctioning equipment to include water closets, urinals, backflow preventors, drinking fountains, ice makers, drain lines, showers, compressed air lines, faucets, sewer lines, grease traps, oil water separators, and others
- Maintains and repairs pressure, drain and sewage line within and building structures; installs and repairs grease traps and separators
- Determines and installs valves and traps needed for proper operation of systems
- Repair and installs piping (copper, steel, PVC, CPVC, etc.) using welding, brazing, soldering, mechanical and chemical bonding methods according to Plumbing Code Standards
- Maintains, repairs and installs drinking fountains, irrigation systems components, icemakers, filtration devices, rotary pumps and fire suppression apparatus as needed
- Pneumatic and mechanical components; uses technical manuals and facility plans as required
- Repairs and replaces valves, faucets, fixtures, roof drains, and others
- Uses Maximo software system, ensures records are correctly maintained and comply with departmental requirements, including running Maximo report
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non exempt - Full-Time
- Non rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed

Minimum Qualifications
- High School/ GED
- Four (4) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- Texas Plumbing License (Journeyman or above) issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
