Electrical Engineer (Mid)
Our client, a leading federal defense contractor is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of technical experience to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop new and modify existing electronics in the form of PCB designs
- Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including analog signal conditioning and communication interfaces
- Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
- Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems
- Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions to design hardware and electronics based on commercial and industry components and technologies
- Generate design and interface documentation
- Design cable assemblies
- Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
Required Skills
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (Active Secret is preferred)
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 5 years of job-related experience or a Master's degree and 3 years.
- Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases
- Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDS
- Experience in analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with lab equipment including signal generators, high speed oscilloscopes, and digital logic analyzers
- Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Experience with firmware or microcontrollers a plus
- Experience with VHDL/Verilog a plus
