Journeyman Tig Welder Job Description We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Tig Welder to join our team for the 2nd shift (3pm to 11:30pm) at a large aerospace facility in Los Alamitos, CA. This is a union position with a set pay rate. The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace tig welding or possess an AWS D17.1 certification and be able to weld aerospace products with precision and expertise. Responsibilities Set up and operate welding machines independently. Follow manufacturing processes and procedures per MEP 1000-01. Maintain acceptable quality and productivity levels on all welding assignments. Execute tasks as assigned by shop management. Weld metal thicknesses from 0.010 to .250 inch. Direct and advise major maintenance on welding equipment. Direct and advise procurement of consumables for welding equipment. Assist, advise, and share job knowledge with other welders. Develop new weld schedules for welding machines as required. Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for accurate welding tasks. Recognize welding problems and troubleshoot them efficiently. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience in GTAW, preferably in aerospace. In-depth knowledge of all aspects of GTAW processes. Ability to weld manually and operate mechanized welding equipment. Proficient in setting up GTAW equipment and weld tooling. Skillful interpretation of weld symbols, engineering drawings, and specifications. Recognition and troubleshooting of welding problems. Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and production planning documents. Competency in using standard manufacturing measuring instruments. Capability to work with tight tolerances such as + or - .002. Additional Skills & Qualifications AWS D17.1 certification preferred. Experience with heliarc, fabrication, and inspection. Knowledge of thin-wall, thin gauge tubing, x-ray, titanium, and inconel welding. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Los Alamitos, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80038.40 - $80038.40/yr.
