Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Physical Plant, the Superintendent of Buildings oversees the progress of projects on campus and conducts field inspections for conformance to specifications and environmental & safety standards. The incumbent will make final inspections, review payments, track project expenditures and change order logs, as well as oversee all service maintenance contracts to maintain the campus. They will also coordinate with contracted architecture & engineering firms during the development of capital projects; assist in program development with campus community & stakeholders; and prepare the monthly capital reports and the SUNY Physical Space Inventory reports. The Superintendent will work along with the Assistant Engineers, as appropriate, to develop in-house renovations projects that happen on campus and track renovations. The incumbent oversees the work performed by the Maintenance/Physical Plant staff throughout campus buildings & grounds, and directs shop personnel regarding service calls/work orders & verifies completion. The Superintendent will be responsible for snow removal detail on campus during certain snow emergencies, in the absence of the Deputy. The incumbent will provide administrative oversight to the campus work-order management system; monitor expenditures to capital & operational expenses to ensure compliance with budgets; utilize existing information and research to forecast future budget/costs; prepare plans, cost estimates and specifications; prepare requests for proposals and all contracts for capital and operations projects performed through the Physical Plant; draft all resolutions for review and approval by The County Board of Legislatures; and draft miscellaneous reports for Westchester County.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and eight years of supervisory experience in building maintenance and operations, four years of which must have been at an administrative level. Satisfactory completion of 30 credits in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Facilities Management or a closely related field may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four years of the supervisory experience.

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice in all college policies, practices, and personnel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree in an engineering or construction management field is strongly preferred. Experience working and overseeing construction projects and maintaining facilities is also preferred, as is experience working in higher education, hospitality, hotels, real estate development, or manufacturing facilities. It is strongly preferred that the incumbent have at least three years of experience supervising a workforce of 15 or more employees.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $104,544. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $135,892.
