Operates paver to spread and level asphalt material on subgrade and relatedsurfaces such as highways, roadways, parking lots, etc.ResponsibilitiesEnsures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies andprocedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the taskControls material taken into paver and the depth of material being distributedthrough the paver, smoothness of mat, any unnecessary roughness and/orirregularities in mat, ride quality of mat, and depths of materialdistributed through paving machineOperates screed machine from a standing position on a platform attached to thepaver or walking alongsideUses the screed machine to lay asphalt material to project specificationsincluding but not limited to depth, width, and gradeOperates other heavy equipment and other construction related duties asrequiredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habitsHas a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industryincluding preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mixdesigns, job specifications, compaction and other details related toasphalt paPerform well in a "TEAM" environmentAbility to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistencyWilling to work hours that are associated to the asphalt industry, includingovertime, nights and weekends as neededPass a pre-employment physical and drug screenMinimum Education and Experience3-5 years of experience requiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredDisclaimerThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level ofwork being performed by people assigned to this classification.
