MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

Summary:
This position is accountable for die cast and machining maintenance supervision; safety, work force efficiency, environmental policies, and continuous improvement so as to achieve manufacturing goals and objectives. Provides maintenance support and assistance with machinery and equipment repairs, adjustments and modifications. Supervises activities of maintenance technicians and establishes plant-wide preventative maintenance program, focusing on prevention rather than detection for problems, as well as, staying involved with other departments problem solving efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans shift maintenance tasks in coordination with operational objectives to assure timely production of quality parts.
Motivates, organizes, coaches and otherwise assists shift personnel in the performance of their work to achieve performance goals, conducting performance reviews annually at a minimum.
Anticipates problems and when feasible, develops and implements solutions to offset lost man-hours and unscheduled production interruptions.
Maintains the communication link between management and hourly employees; provides consistent and fair application of performance standards while achieving the high morale level needed to maintain non-union status.
Communicates with other shifts and departments to aid in achieving plant production and quality goals. Submits daily shift pass down on projects, special assignments, or as requested.
Assists in development of subordinates for promotional opportunities.
Drives continuous improvement on the maintenance department by holding accountability for expectations of MTBF, MTTR, 5S, PM completion, standard work, value creation and other activities for plant metrics.
Monitor repairs in process, maintain records and coordinate effects to ensure completion to schedule.
Control maintenance supplies in order to minimize inventories and yet meet customer product requirements.
Drives operational performance to improve and achieve key measurable performance objectives.
Maintains employee timekeeping records.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising assigned labor. Monitors employee safety, quality, and performance to ensure achievement of hourly and shift goals. Coaches and mentors employees to develop a cross-trained workforce with clear developmental objectives.

Education and/or Experience
Associates (A.A.) degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or two to four years related experience and/or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Skills and Abilities
Leadership: Ensure work requests, PM checklists, maintenance program schedule, and other preventative
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret various graphs.
Computer Skills: Computer literate, Excel, Word, PLEX Maintenance module.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Additional Competencies
Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance diagnostics and correction procedures
Ability to read electrical schematics
Understand and diagnose pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to;
Walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls,
Reach with hands and arms and to talk or hear.
Stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Due to customer demands, the employee must have the ability to work overtime on weekends and weekdays.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
