Summary
The Distribution Mechanic III is responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment, piping systems, valves, and machinery at our power plant located in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a full-time, hourly, union position and reports to the Distribution Manager. The compensation for this position is $33.00 per hour plus a 10% bonus target.
Responsibilities
Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policiesIdentify, report and/or correct unsafe work environmentsOperate all hand/power tools in a competent mannerInstall, repair, replace, and trouble shoot piping systems, valves, steam traps, pumpsPerform preventive maintenance as scheduledMust be able to work overtime as requiredExercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipmentRespond to emergency situations immediately and work quickly to correct the problem(s).Participate in training to continue education and skills in craftDemonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writingPerform other duties as assigned by Distribution ManagerParticipate in training to further welding skills, as needed by the departmentTakes rotating, on-call (beeper) on weekends, back shifts, and holidaysMust be able to work overtime as required
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications:
HS Diploma or GEDMinimum one year experience in an industrial maintenance settingAbility to work with minimum supervisionAbility to perform basic computer operations and use email
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid MD 4th or 5th Grade Stationary Engineers LicenseMinimum one year Pipefitting experienceMinimum one year Welding experienceMinimum one year Rigging certification
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 poundsAbility to work in confined spacesAbility to climb and tolerate heights up to 100 feetMust complete pre-employment screenings including a company physical exam and respirator fit test in addition to drug testingMust be able to walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reachAbility to tolerate heatMust possess a valid driver's license and insurable by Company's vehicle insurance carrier
