Why does the job exist?
This position will perform independent field inspections, testing and documentation and may also include reviewing contract documents and other office duties for construction projects as needed to ensure State and Federal specification compliance. This position may be assigned to work throughout District Four to meet the demands of the Construction Program.
How does it get done?
Perform materials testing on New Mexico Department of Transportation construction projects. Review and interpret construction plans and contracts. Document contractor activities, materials and equipment on New Mexico Department of Transportation project. Ensure that the contractor is installing materials that meet compliance.

The traveling public.

Ideal Candidate Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have experience: -Reviewing/Interpreting construction plans and drawings. -Calculating mathematical computations such as volume and area. -Working with Microsoft Office software to produce reports and/or spreadsheets. -Documenting contractor activities, materials and equipment -Testing field materials. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Substitution Table These combinations of education and experience qualify you for the position: Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 2 years of experience 2 Associate's degree or higher (Bachelor's, Master's) AND 0 years of experience Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position. If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Business reference check and driver's lice
