Design flight hardware and test setups to validate designs, and to establish top-level design architectures and implementation methodologies for the team using ED CAD modeling tool suites, DFM (Design for Manufacturability, DFA (for Assembly), DFT (for Test)

- Interface with electrical, software, controls, and perception engineers

- Help team lead mechanical system engineering decision for hardware architecture.

- Help lead prototyping of a product architectures during research and development phase.

- Help lead mechanical testing of components.

- Characterize mechanical properties of different plastic and metallic materials and select them for part design.

- Perform computer-aided design and manage product data from concept to production.

- Control design for manufacturing parameters for different processes such as additive manufacturing. Injection molding, CNC machining.

- Develop and present mechanical testing results to further help mechanical system decisions.

- Document design decisions for management and other engineers to review.

- Document key engineering design parameters for sales team to use for marketing.

- Document mechanical analysis through hand calculations and finite element analysis for management and other engineering disciplines.

- Produce ideas and documentation for other engineering disciplines such as electrical engineering to help them through design process.

- Perform tradeoff between sensors and lab equipment to help improve engineering R&D lab.

- Perform lab equipment bring up and maintain lab equipment for mechanical engineers.

- Perform design for manufacturing tasks with other engineers and manufacturing team.

- Perform root cause analysis for failed hardware in the field.

- Implement design changes with engineering team and manufacturing team in reaction to hardware failures.

- Perform make vs buy tradeoffs to decide which components should be part of company designs.

- Perform thermal analysis to make system tradeoffs and help reduce bill of materials.

- Produce bill of materials for mechanical components for manufacturing team.

- Perform design for service tasks to help reduce service costs and labor hours.

- Present to and work with vendors to determine vendor feasibility and vendor fitness.

- Develop requirements for vendors when producing company components.

- Develop mechanical requirements to help produce test requirements and test procedures.

- Work collaboratively with the engineering team to design and develop unmanned aerial vehicle components including flight control hardware, thermal management systems, airframe structures, and integrated avionics.

- This role involves creating test setups to validate designs and establishing top-level architectures for hardware implementation.

Requirements: Master degree in Mechanical Engineering; Computer Engineering; Software Engineering or related + 3 months of experience in the job offered and 3 months of experience in the use of ED CAD modeling tool suites, DFM (Design for Manufacturability, DFA (for Assembly), DFT (for Test).
