Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Commercial Estimator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow in the field of commercial estimating. The successful candidate will assist senior estimators, learn to evaluate project scopes, and contribute to securing new commercial work through accurate and competitive bids.
Job Requirements
Accurate Take-Offs: Prepare detailed and precise material and labor take-offs for each project to minimize the potential for missed scope or cost discrepancies.
Risk & Opportunity Analysis: Evaluate each bid to identify strategic opportunities and potential risks. Collaborate with the team to develop competitive approaches that give us an edge over the competition.
Supplier & Subcontractor Outreach: Solicit and compare a minimum of two quotes per system from qualified subcontractors and suppliers. More quotes are encouraged to ensure competitive pricing.
Bid Review Coordination: Schedule bid review meetings at least two days prior to the submission deadline. Address any special circumstances related to individual jobs upon assignment.
Maintain Bid Schedule: Keep the bid schedule current with daily updates, ensuring the estimating team remains aligned with upcoming deadlines and priorities.
Follow-Up & Results Tracking: Take ownership of following up on submitted bids and reporting outcomes in a timely manner.
Customer Engagement: Build and nurture professional relationships with clients. A minimum of two in-person customer interactions per month is required to strengthen rapport and trust.
Team Support: Act as a collaborative team membersupport senior estimators and contribute to a smooth estimating process.
Field Exposure: Participate in ride-alongs with project managers and superintendents to observe installation practices. Use these insights to enhance bid accuracy and practicality
Requirements
Identify and Pursue Bidding Opportunities: Proactively seek out projects to bid on in order to meet or exceed quarterly revenue goals.
Conduct Site Walks: Participate in pre-bid site walks as necessary to gather project scope, requirements, and logistical considerations.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Outlook for communication, documentation, and data management.
Hands-On Learning: Be willing and able to participate in on-the-job training (OJT) with Project Managers and Superintendents to gain practical knowledge of construction processes, industry standards, and installation methods.
Salary
Salary + 2% commission of awarded project
