PRECONSTRUCTION MANAGER
The primary role of the Engineered Systems -MEP Precon PM & Estimator is to provide technical and cost estimate support on projects to the project team, from conceptual design to project handover. In addition will provide estimating support for projects and business development activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 10 years' applicable experience in engineering design, facility management/operations, or construction management.
Minimum 5 years of cost estimating experience with mechanical and electrical systems
Expert in the design, installation, or operation of engineered systems for projects such as mission critical facilities, educational facilities, medical facilities, Labs, industrial, and similar projects.
Highly skilled to communicate with multiple levels across organization; effectively convey technical topics to non-technical audience.
Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and time management skills
Experience utilizing Estimating Tools such as Bluebeam for takeoffs, iTWO Cost X estimating platform, ICAT, or other tools.
Preferred:
Registered Professional Engineer
Ability to navigate through REVIT and AutoCAD documents.
Experience with Bluebeam Revu or Revitzo.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, etc.)
Office and Travel:
Regular travel to jobsites is necessary, an average of 25% travel time.
Hybrid office attendance.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Provide technical expertise for engineered systems:
o Pre-Construction Phase:
Check A/E documents (specs and drawings) for compliance with owner's requirements, applicable codes, constructability, industry standard practice, optimization, etc.
Participate in page turns with client and A/E team.
Assist the A/E and Sub-Contractor to identify VE and Cost Reduction items.
Assist in the identification of long lead items and procurement of them.
Assist in the preparation of bid instructions, bid cards, and sub-contractor scope documents to avoid gaps in Sub-Contractor scopes.
Assist in evaluating subcontractor cost proposals and qualifications.
o Construction:
Assist Project Managers and Sub-Contractors in the interpretation of the contract documents.
Assist in resolving RFIs when appropriate.
Assist in the review of submittals, substitution requests, and change orders when requested by Project Management staff.
Review the project schedule and provide feedback to the PM.
o Standards: Assist in the development of company standards.
o Provide technical training to PM and Site staff on Engineered Systems
o Maintains and pursues knowledge of current and developing technologies. Reviews industry performance, analyzes industry trends, and maintains industry contacts
MEP Cost estimates:
o Utilize Estimating Tools to develop a comprehensive MEP cost estimate.
o Collaborate with subcontractors, design teams, and scheduling team to ensure estimates prepared are accurate.
Management:
o Attend and participate in project management and other company meetings
o Attend any training - personal and/or professional development - that is relevant to the position, including human resources management.
o Support and follow company standards of work.
o Provide professional and technical mentorship to staff.
o Other responsibilities as assigned

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time at employee's work station and during meetings as well as while traveling, either by plane or car. Occasionally, employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $95,000-120,000, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer.
Please note that the range provided above reflects the hiring range for this role. Hiring near the top end of this range would be atypical, as we aim to allow room for future salary growth.
