Description:
Architectural Designer, full-time, with 5-15 years of experience, minimum. This role is primarily in-office, with a limited ability to work from home per company policy.
This position requires a responsible individual who is passionate about design and the environment, has a strong work ethic, and has a firm grasp on the technical aspects of commercial buildings, as well as a solid understanding of commercial construction practices.
You should have a strong design sensibility and appreciation for the design process, and an understanding that architectural design is a collaborative process that occurs within a team.
Previous experience working for an architecture firm that focuses on commercial/civic/healthcare (i.e. nonresidential) work is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Typical responsibilities will include leading, supporting, and/or assisting in the development of design solutions and oversight of design intent. You will prepare materials and drawings for schematic design, design development, contract documents, and marketing collateral, researching various project-related topics, communicating concepts via graphics, spreadsheets, or written narratives. Other tasks may include: site analysis, programming space adjacencies, conceptual building layouts, and developing building concepts, including architectural expression and envelope design.
Skill Set:
Architecture program graduate from an accredited institution
Creative, problem-solving mindset, and interest and passion for design
Passionate and knowledgeable about current design trends
Collaborative, proactive, curious, and professional
Able to communicate design ideas via hand sketching and drawings
Strong graphic abilities and design sense
An understanding of how a building is assembled and how building systems are integrated
An understanding of how a set of construction documents is organized
An understanding of how building codes and regulations impact design concepts
The following will be considered a plus:
Writing and research skills
Photography skills, including understanding of composition and lighting
Familiarity with parametric design software, such as Grasshopper
Familiarity with 3D printing and small-scale fabrication
Sustainability certifications
Model-building skills
Software:
Revit and AutoCAD fluency
SketchUp familiarity
Adobe (Photoshop), InDesign, and Illustrator preferred
Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
