Job Type: Full-Time (Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 3 PM, with additional hours required in spring, summer, and fall).

Jobsite Locations: Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Waukesha Counties
Focus: Residential decks, pergolas, fences, and other exterior builds

Chisel and Vine is seeking a skilled Lead Carpenter to join our team. We specialize in high-quality, custom exterior structures and are known for our attention to detail, craftsmanship, and professionalism. If youre experienced in framing, finish carpentry, and leading crews, wed love to hear from you.

What Youll Do:
Lead a crew of 26 team members on residential carpentry projects
Execute framing and finishing work to meet contract specifications and project plans
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and material lists
Build and install decks, fences, pergolas, arbors, saunas, and occasional interior features
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, team members, and the office
Ensure efficient project pacing and quality craftsmanship throughout each build

What You Bring:
Proven experience in residential carpentry, especially framing and exterior structures
Ability to read blueprints and lead a team with efficiency and accuracy
Strong command of carpentry techniques and tool use (power and hand tools)
A valid Wisconsin drivers license and the ability to back up a 16 trailer
Physical stamina (lift up to 80 lbs; work in varying weather conditions)
A proactive mindsetable to identify tasks, stay organized, and lead by example
A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship
Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a team setting
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
Framing and finishing custom decks, fences, pergolas, and more
Measuring, cutting, and installing materials with precision
Delegating tasks and setting the pace for your crew
Keeping trailers and the shop stocked, organized, and clean
Recognizing tool maintenance needs and reporting issues
Following OSHA standards and maintaining a professional site environment
Driving large trucks with trailers safely and responsibly
Submitting change orders and updates to clients as needed
Maintaining communication across all project stakeholders
Schedule & Time Off:
Hours: MondayFriday, 7 AM3 PM (with extended hours during peak season)
Time-off requests require 2 weeks' notice (exceptions for emergencies)
Company holidays include:
