Job Description

The Business Development Manager is focused on providing support for M&A, licensing and partnering activities, including origination of targets, scoping potential collaborative fit, building relationships with partner companies and leading on the integration post successful agreement closure. It requires the ability to work across functions within LGC and potential partner companies. The role requires a strong understanding of the broader life sciences and diagnostics market, technology, and IP landscape.

Support the development of an inorganic global genomics business growth strategy and support product and tactical marketing teams in the translation into portfolio plans

Originate/initiate contact and scope potential collaborative fit with target partners within designated region

Track progress towards strategic targets and build and manage relationships with key contacts

Ensure project management and facilitation on various strategic projects

Support development of internal business case models and proposals in presentations for acquisitions and partnering deal closure

Partner with Portfolio Management to identify opportunities for growth via market expansion and portfolio development

Identify alternative business models for new or existing markets (licensing, JV, etc.) to accelerate profitable growth

Identify technology for in-sourcing/licensing & distribution opportunities in line with divisional strategic plan

Provide support on market landscape assessments for key target areas

Support projects that facilitate the implementation of global strategies where required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a life science discipline-or equivalent education and working experience. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

8 years of demonstrated commercial experience within the life sciences or diagnostics industry, including prior experience evaluating and implementing business transactions

Detailed understanding of life sciences and/or diagnostics marketplace, including relevant technologies and products

Proven experience in business development and/or strategic marketing, partnering deals with companies, mergers & acquisitions

Experience in a global, matrixed working environment

Strong understanding of financial modelling, with the ability to effectively interpret and draw conclusions from financial statements

Ability to travel nationally and internationally. Travel required up to 50% of the time
