The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Capital Projects department within the Oil & Gas and Power division for a Project Scheduler located in Calgary. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules and assessing progress in conjunction with teams in the field. The position will assist the team in developing various reports that include this information.
The position is based out of our Calgary office with travel to Cuba as required.

In this role, you will be accountable for:
- Reviewing project proposals and deliverables with project teams and stakeholders to determine appropriate lead times, budgets, procedures, and staffing requirements for successful project execution.
- Assisting the team in setting annual priorities across various projects, considering constraints related to time, budget, and personnel.
- Coordinating with stakeholders and team members to develop resource-loaded schedules with realistic deadlines and defined deliverables.
- Developing detailed project schedules that capture all key phases and dependencies, including preliminary engineering, detailed design, material procurement, installation, testing and start-up, and site and system acceptance. Schedule development will follow typical levels (14), with the level of detail determined by operational and project requirements.
- Participating in and contributing to meetings at team, engineering, partner, and management levels, while leading schedule update meetings to ensure accuracy in logic, prioritization, resourcing, and schedule integrity.
- Tracking project changes and producing updated schedules in collaboration with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.
- Traveling to Cuba as project needs dictate, in order to develop, update, and analyze project schedules on-site, and collaborating with local teams to ensure credible and actionable schedules.
- Conducting schedule status analyses using methods such as critical path analysis, risk assessment, earned value management, and resource evaluation to identify overallocations, shortfalls, and progress trends.
- Creating and distributing schedules, presentations, and weekly reports to project stakeholders, including detailed schedule analysis and performance insights.
- Maintaining strong communication with project stakeholders, technicians, and contractors to ensure timely execution, clear issue resolution, and comprehensive documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Interfacing regularly with operations teams to ensure schedules and reporting align with operational needs and expectations.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a scheduling or project planning role.
- In-depth understanding of construction sequencing, execution, and progress measurement, ideally within one or more of the industries we serve.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, with the ability to develop and manage complex project schedules.
- Familiarity with MS Project would be considered an asset.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to extract, analyze, and present project data effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
- Proven analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Highly self-motivated and adaptable, capable of working independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Fluency in Spanish is a significant asset.
- Hands-on experience in a construction trade is considered an asset.
