Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. + 3 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes. + 3 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks. Preferred qualifications: + Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. + Experience shipping multiple consumer products. + Experience with design for human factors. + Experience with manufacturing methods used in consumer products. + Experience with soft goods design. The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Learn more about benefits at Google ( . + Apply design, engineering, and technical knowledge to influence cross-functionally and deliver reliable mass production components, and solve time-sensitive problems. + Anticipate and address product design issues or risks, analyze data, and validate product design to suggest or implement design improvements. + Manage the product design, provide guidance to team members, and communicate progress, and request feedback to prevent/remove roadblocks. + Balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and aesthetics.
