Job Description
Position Title: Summer Painter
Location: Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School – Bethlehem, PA
Duration: June 16, 2025 through August 8, 2025
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (flexible hours may be considered)
Reports To: Director of Operations
Lehigh Valley Academy is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced painter to complete painting projects across campus. The Summer Painter will prepare, repair, and paint interior spaces such as classrooms, offices, and hallways. Work will be completed in coordination with the Facilities and Janitorial teams and must meet LVA’s quality and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities:- Prepare surfaces by cleaning walls and removing old paint or debris
- Spackle small to medium holes and cracks in drywall or plaster
- Sand repaired areas and other surfaces to ensure smooth finishes
- Prime as needed and paint walls and ceilings using brushes and rollers for an even coat
- Perform touch-ups and detailed work around trim, corners, and edges
- Protect classroom furniture and floors using drop cloths and painter’s tape (coordination with Janitorial staff may be required)
- Move and cover furniture as needed for access and protection during painting
- Clean up daily by disposing of debris, washing brushes, and organizing supplies
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and consistency
- Basic drywall repair skills (spackling, drying times, smooth application)
- Proper sanding technique (manual or powered tools)
- Interior painting skills (cutting-in, rolling, blending coats)
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Adherence to safety protocols (PPE use, ladder safety, ventilation)
- Efficient time management with minimal supervision
- Clear communication with supervisor and team
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs (paint cans, ladders, equipment)
- Prior painting experience (residential, commercial, or school-based)
- Experience using painter’s tape and drop cloths to protect surroundings
Familiarity with summer maintenance workflows in school settings
