Core Duties:
Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
Operate mechanized equipment such as pickup trucks, rollers, tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, and backhoes.
Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
Install and repair sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems. Be a mentor to laborers by teaching them proper techniques of pipe installation
Be punctual, dependable and professional at all times
Work with cost effectiveness, profitability and safety in mind
Lead by example
Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present
Arrive at work prior to designated work start time
Attend daily safety and project coordination meeting
Ensure that pipe is installed properly to avoid leaks and on the correct grade
Install and remove safety devices required for work operations
Assist in unloading delivered construction materials
Assist in locating existing utilities to avoid damage
Keep track of tools during work hours
Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities
Willingness to work hours as required
