Job Summary

Under the supervision of the manager/supervisor in the Operations and Maintenance Department, this is a journeyman level painter position responsible for painting the interior and exterior finishes of campus facilities. This position requires the preparation of surfaces to receive primer, coatings or paint followed by the application of paint and coatings to the interior and exterior surfaces of the institution's facilities. Perform exterior building wash. Paint the institution's buildings and facilities, interior and exterior finishes. This position relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and reports to a supervisor/manager/lead.

Responsibilities

Painting - 50

Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint, using paint remover, scraper, or wire brush. Protect surfaces and finishes during sanding and painting process. Clean up floors and windows after painting. Apply coatings, paints, sealers and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces.

Washing/Cleaning - 30

Wash exterior windows, buildings, walls and patios. Wash interior windows and surfaces where applicable.

Compliance - 5

Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and

environmental practices.

Inventory - 10

Maintain work area and paint shop, stock supplies and manage waste generated from work tasks. Mix paint, clean and organize tools and equipment, set up and break down ladders and scaffolding required for painting tasks.

Other - 5

Any other duties and tasks assigned or as required to meet the goals of the department, division, and Georgia College & State University.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Other Required Qualifications

Ability to operate PC or laptop or iPad in order to receive and send email and submit work orders through Maintenance Direct.

Required Experience

1-3 years of related work experience
