DESIGN ENGINEER Main Objective: The Design Engineer will be required to design and process new jobs per customer requirements. This includes reviewing the thermal design, customer specifications and designing the pressure parts per ASME section VIII, Div 1 and API-661. You will be required to work with external and internal customers to ensure the product is delivered to all customers expectations.

Key Responsibilities and Expected Results
  • Review heat exchanger job requirements.
  • Read through customer specifications and note applicable sections.
  • Design pressure parts per applicable ASME Code.
  • Design structure steel components.
  • Design rotating equipment components.
  • Provide design package to draftsman to create drawing package.
  • Review drawings/models prior to submittal.
  • Compile submittal documents for document control.
  • Work with Sales, Shop and Purchasing on design/project questions
  • Assist Automation Programmer with design standards and review of Automation techniques.
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients and team members.
  • Ability to multitask many projects while understanding priorities.
  • Resolve and respond to customer issues or difficulties quickly and efficiently.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and ability to stay updated with the changing product and customer base.
  • Ability to advocate for change and assist in implementation of new processes.
  • Travel Domestically up to 5% of the time, meeting with clients or assisting with equipment on site.
  • Make recommendations and suggest methods to improve area operations, efficiency, and service to customers.
  • Performs all job functions in compliance with all company policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the position.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering required.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing environment experience.
  • Knowledge of Air Coolers or other heat transfer equipment.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ASME Box Header design and Corner Joint construction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of API 661.
  • Excellent communication skills including diplomacy, relationship building, and effectively communicating to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong motivation for taking action and obtaining results.
  • Ability to think analytically about processes and controls.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, effectively, and ensure appropriate productivity with limited supervision.
  • Must be a self-starter.
