Electrical Technician

The primary responsibility of this position will be to support all activities related to electrical and mechanical assembly throughout production. Operate equipment and tools as needed. Assist engineering in resolving electrical and mechanical issues. Perform quality assurance on product builds to ensure customer specifications are met. Follow verbal and written instructions and procedures. Assist in developing and implementing Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP) and programs. Use knowledge and experience to create new ideas to improve manufacturing times, lower costs and improve equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Locate materials for product builds. Identify and communicate material shortages to the Operations team.
  • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies into final products.
  • Assist in packaging and delivery of items to customers when necessary.
  • Ensure efficiency, safety, and cleanliness of the production area.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance (oil, clean).
  • Assure overall customer satisfaction both internal and externally.
  • Assist with warehouse responsibilities as needed.
  • Any other tasks or duties your supervisor may deem necessary.
  • Read and follow blueprints and schematics to perform layout and electrical assembly.
  • Ensure the use of the correct wire and cable size and properties as indicated on schematics.
  • Ability to wire standard and custom engineered panels.
  • Review project instructions, production order bill of materials, wiring diagrams, and drawings for the correct parts.
  • Ability to recognize and identify electrical components such as breakers, switches, starters, relays, timers, overloads, etc.
  • Ability to layout panel wire duct, din rail, transformers, CTs, relays, circuit breakers, and all components required.
  • Correctly calculate, measure, and cut wire duct, din rail, Unistrut, tubing, hardware, wire, and cable as required.
  • Precisely and accurately drill and tap panels using the properly sized bits and taps.
  • Assemble bus bars, disconnect switches, door locks and components using proper fasteners and fastening methods.
  • Precisely and accurately use knockout punches, jigsaws, hole saws, etc.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, lug, and mount wire to connect electrical components.
  • Insure wire Ty-bases are in the correct size, quantity, and location per wiring standards.
  • Wire panels with various wire sizes and properties with or without the use of solder-less connectors as required.
  • Ability to wire high and low voltage components.
  • Wire panels using point to point wiring.
  • Route terminate and dress harnesses and bundles of wire neatly.
  • Label wiring and components accurately, legibly, and properly.
  • Independently or assisting Engineer, test panels for resistance, voltage, amperage, and other characteristics for proper operation.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Use sound judgment and have ability to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must Drive Forklift and get certified yearly. (Load and Unloading).
  • Must have clean driving record (Occasional pickup or delivery maybe required.
  • Preferred working knowledge of industrial automation and motion control systems.
  • Intermediate PC experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Basic electrical experience is necessary.
  • Manual dexterity is required for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to safely use and maintain a large variety of tools and equipment.
  • No special vision or work environment conditions.
  • Ability to visit and work at customer locations, if required.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience
  • High School Diploma and or/ Technical Vocational Degree.

Physical Capabilities and Requirements:

  • Frequent physical movement (walking and sitting).
  • Frequent physical activity (Lifting and carrying less than 50 lbs. and push 100 lbs.).

Work Shift and Hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm

Compensation Details: The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $19.00 per hour, depending on experience.
