Building Installation Supervisor

Directs and manages the daily Easi-Set Building field operations of Smith-Midland of Virginia in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. Provides leadership, management and technical expertise to the Building field functions of a major precast concrete producer. Monitors and controls operations to achieve cost, quantity, schedules and quality goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the day-to-day activities of the building field department, including the in-house yard work and outside erection and field activities
• Directs a work force of 6 - 10. Attends to daily personnel matters in his area of responsibility to achieve a motivated, productive, and capable workforce. Administers company rules and procedures for the personnel under their responsibility.
• In close coordination with Engineering, Building Coordinator, Maintenance, Weld Fabrication, Sales and Shipping, sets up and updates schedules, assigns resources and effectively follows up on progress to meet erection and shipping deadlines.
• Monitor the performance and productive output in their department and take corrective action as required. Make recommendations and implement productivity improvement initiatives and equipment and tool upgrades.
• Produce various reports required for safety, quality, delivery and cost purposes. Monitor the productive output of their area of responsibility
• Assemble and finish Buildings of high quality that meet or exceed specifications, company standards and expectations. Strive to continuously improve the quality of products
• Maintain a safe work environment and promote safe work practices. Communicate and implement company and regulatory safety policies and standards
• Ensure proper operation of all equipment, follows up on its condition and coordinates required repairs with Maintenance to ensure the preservation of capital and minimization of downtime. Also maintains high standards of housekeeping.
• Work with Building Coordinator and Purchasing Manager to maintain a timely supply of all materials required for uninterrupted building installation and delivery
• Responsible for field site evaluation and execution of building installation, which will require some overnight travel
• Reports to the V.P. of Operations

Qualifications

• Precast concrete field fabrication experience preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to collaborate across departments
• Organizational and strategic planning capabilities
• Highly driven and task oriented
• Good knowledge of computers - Excel, Word, Project
