Job Summary
Kerford Limestone is looking for a Mine Engineer/Foreman to coordinate, implement, and oversee mining engineering and production activities who also supervises the Union Miners. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance is required, including occasional Saturdays as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Mine mapping and control, keeps property maps updated, and coordinates surveyor activities.
Monitors roof conditions and roof control program; works with Mine Superintendent to develop and maintain a roof control/hazard map.
Acts as in-house resource for our mine communication system.
Tracks mine production and produce daily reports for supervisory staff.
Compiles monthly stockpile inventory reports using drone data.
Manages and develops crew to assure production activities and priorities for products are developed and maintained according to effective operations and cost factors.
Coordinates mining production activities in accordance with policies, principles and procedures established by the company.
Assures safety standards are maintained within the operation by performing mine examinations, maintaining mine ventilation system, marking headings and coordinate drilling activities.
Assures and oversees maintenance plan of production equipment according to program procedures.
Res and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve production process.
Revises production schedules and priorities because of equipment failure or operating problems and inventory requirements.
Provides up to date status on support or production activities to appropriate parties.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Performs necessary supervisory responsibilities for Union Miners.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mining, Civil Engineering, or related field; and
4 years relevant experience in mining operations or heavy civil construction environment with some leadership experience; or
an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Driver's License
Other Qualifications
Must have a good understanding of maintenance facility flow along with a strong understanding of parts, systems and mine utility equipment.
Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions in the quarry area.
Ability to read and comprehend service manuals, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
Regularly writes detailed and accurate service reports stating the nature of the job and what has been done.
Must be able to work flexible hours when required.
Ability to recognize hazardous conditions in roof and pillars.
Must be able lift, move, and/or carry up to 75 pounds.
Must be able to regularly work outside in various weather conditions.
Other Skills & Abilities:
Must have a good sense of detail.
Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be a self-starter who can work within a team environment.
