As a Design Engineer , you will design transportation systems to customer specifications to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and profitability. Identify transportation requirements from customers' Thermon drawings, specifications, instructions, and quotes. Prepare isometrics, panel programs, cable programs, instrument programs, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and location drawings. You will use Thermon design software and established guidelines and procedures.
The Design Engineer will report to the Manager, Production of our Transportation product business line and will work closely with the Engineering, Sales, Operations, Manufacturing and Project Management Team, promoting a positive culture, collaboration, and a high-performance work environment through progressive engineering practices.
You will be based out of Thermon San Marcos Campus: 100 Thermon Dr. San Marcos, Texas and will work onsite (in-person) Monday to Friday, working schedule 8am-5pm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare isometrics, panel schedules, cable schedules, instrument schedules, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and location drawings, using AutoCAD and MicroStation as needed.
- Responsible for designing transportation systems according to customer specifications to successfully ensure customer satisfaction and profitability.
- Responsible for reviewing all project specifications and documentation needed to develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work.
- Responsible for following project requirements, along with expectations for quality, schedule, or other constraints of a technical nature.
- Responsible for following the established process and procedure, including the project design guide, project execution guide, quality plan, and providing feedback when deficiencies occur.
- Responsible for maintaining the folder structure of the Project Design.
- Provides information for the development of global and regional tools and procedures as needed.
- Other activities assigned by Management.
To be successful in this position, you must possess
- Technically proficient/accomplished in heat tracing design, as well as has appropriate technical knowledge of piping and insulation systems, electrical and P&ID, government codes.
- Technically proficient in drawing in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Generate new ideas, challenge the status quo, take risks, support change, foster innovation, and creatively solve problems.

Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in design to order engineered design is required.
- Good working experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience working with design software, CompuTrace, Visi Trace, TSDS is required.
- English language is required (read, write, and converse).
