Williamsburg, Virginia Overview
The Light Equipment Mechanic performs both preventive and corrective maintenance functions that includes, but is not limited to, the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC disciplines. This position is primary in plant and equipment preventive maintenance and assists the Director with building fire safety inspection. Performs corrective maintenance through work order system requests. Rotates on the after hours on- call schedule.

What you will do
  • Installs and repairs lighting systems and fixtures. Ceiling/floor tiles. Furniture, cabinets, desk, chairs, hallway bumpers, and wall end caps. White boards, pictures, signs, and other wall fastened items.
  • Performs/Assists co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, Plumbing, Electrical, and/or Heating/Air Conditioning work. Coordinates and assists with outside 3rd party contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance oversees to ensure compliance, may be expected to procure parts and services. Snow Removal. Assist other departments/units in times of Disaster.
  • Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the Facility. Perform preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and document maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed. Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Has a general knowledge of DNV, NFPA, AADMS, ADA, OSHA, local, state and federal codes, requirements or regulations and is in accordance with Riverside policies and procedures. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves as needed.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, generators, and various hand tools required for carpentry, and plumbing tasks. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area.

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Program Graduate, Trade (Preferred)

Experience
  • Recent relevant experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Board for Contractor Tradesman - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Preferred)
  • Journeyman's license (Preferred)
