IMRIS will continue to integrate new intraoperative imaging technologies and shape the future of neurosurgery in operating rooms worldwide.

We are currently searching for an Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our team at Superconducting Systems Inc. (SSI), an IMRIS company. This role will be performed on-site and is based in the Greater Boston area at our brand new facility in North Billerica, MA. Please note: There is no relocation offered for this role. The ideal candidate should reside in the Greater Boston area.

The Electro-Mechanical Technician assists with a variety of electrical and mechanical builds and tests on medical device components to ensure unit performance meets specifications. Possesses demonstrated skills of troubleshooting and repair of equipment. Contributes to development of methods and techniques used for testing and troubleshooting. Participates in continuous improvement efforts related to production procedures and provides coaching to technicians. On-the-job training will be provided to the ideal candidate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read engineering prints and schematics.
  • Use of power tools, hand tools, and lifting equipment
  • Use of laboratory equipment such as vacuum pumps, digital meters, soldering irons, sensors, etc.
  • Operate coil winding machines.
  • Performs assembly tasks and test functional performance of various systems, subassemblies, and components.
  • Assist in providing technical support in implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting existing products
  • Perform quality assurance testing during assembly to detect and prevent defective components from installation and reaching the end user
  • Assist in completing and maintaining all required documentation including test results and other pertinent records
  • Provides assistance in diagnosing and repairing manufacturing and assembly problems
  • Work cross-functionally to assist and address production issues as they arise
  • Contributes to engineering design support, implementation, documentation and testing effort for development projects assigned
  • Assist in ensuring engineering designs adequately meet quality, safety, regulatory compliance, serviceability and test standards
  • When required, perform a wide variety of tests on a broad spectrum of materials
  • Ensure production equipment meets preventative maintenance and calibration requirements
  • Maintain a safe and clean workstation

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Reports to the Production Manager of SSI

KNOWLEDGE, DESIREABLESKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years of experience in assembly and test of complex electronic and electromechanical products, or associate degree or higher preferred from a technical school.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude
  • Experience working with technical parts and inventory would be desirable.
  • Skilled with various fasteners, lubricants, adhesives, hand, power and torque tools to manufacture mechanical and hydraulic assemblies
  • Skilled at wiring electrical control and power systems on mechanical and hydraulic assemblies
  • Completing inspection checklists and reporting of test results.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, stooping, reaching and repetitive movement of both hand six to eight hours daily. Good manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. on an occasional basis are also required.
  • Occasional business travel to customer sites for problem resolution or input
  • Must work safely and be safety-conscious at all times
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be capable of communicating effectively and working cooperativity with all levels of personnel within the organization
