Construction Inspector
Job Description

The role involves conducting engineering site inspections on municipal construction projects to ensure quality control and adherence to applicable provincial standards, engineering design, and technical specifications. You will document construction site activities, maintain a detailed daily report log, take photos, perform survey checks, and record as-built conditions while identifying and monitoring deficiencies. Additionally, you will provide problem resolution and field solutions for unforeseen construction issues, review and comment on construction progress payment certificates and quotations, and arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering site inspections on municipal construction projects.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to provincial standards and specifications.
  • Document construction site activities, maintain daily report logs, and record as-built conditions.
  • Identify and monitor construction deficiencies.
  • Provide problem resolution and field solutions for unforeseen construction issues.
  • Review and comment on construction progress payment certificates and quotations.
  • Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing.
  • Coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in municipal engineering construction.
  • Direct experience in water and/or wastewater treatment, storage, or conveyance.
  • Effective communication skills for dealing with staff, contractors, and the public.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • MTO Class G drivers license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • WHMIS training completed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working on projects over $10 million.
  • Experience with water processing facilities, membranes, and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience in a senior leadership position and managing a team.
  • Experience in replacing membranes.
Work Environment

This role requires working an average of 37.5 to 40 hours a week, completely on-site in Orangeville. Steel toe boots are mandatory. You will report to the contract administrator from CIMA+. The team consists mostly of other contractors and subcontractors on-site, along with some CIMA+ construction individuals. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
