Job Description Position Overview: Health & Safety Leadership Role Remote Mining Operations. This role involves the design and execution of a comprehensive safety culture and strategic framework tailored to remote mining operations. Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in hazard identification and risk mitigation, leading investigations into significant incidents and ensuring corrective measures are implemented and sustained.
- Track and interpret safety performance data, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and driving continuous enhancement initiatives.
- Partner with operational leaders to monitor safety KPIs, offering ongoing coaching to reinforce a proactive safety mindset across all levels.
- Foster a culture of safety excellence by mentoring frontline leaders and team members, ensuring alignment with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
- Direct all safety-related training programs for staff and contractors, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
- Lead a dedicated safety team in the development and refinement of safety management systems, ensuring documentation and processes are current and effective.
- Conduct and oversee internal audits and inspections, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations and internal protocols, and managing timely resolution of any deficiencies.
- Administer the organizations risk management framework, ensuring robust identification, assessment, and control of operational risks.
- Minimum of 10 years in a senior safety leadership role within remote or northern mining environments.
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent experience; Gold Seal Certification may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Must hold Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation and Mine Rescue Certification.
- Additional certifications such as Train the Trainer are advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience working in isolated camp settings and engaging with Indigenous communities in a respectful and professional manner.
