Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager will help implement CFR’s fundraising strategies and have the key responsibility of managing the department’s daily operations. The ideal candidate will be an experienced project manager, great communicator, detail oriented, possess strong data management and analytical skills, able to meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs and opportunities.

Responsibilities and duties will include:

Individual Giving:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of email campaigns, fundraising, and other communications in collaboration with the Communications team
  • Attend and participate in donor/funder cultivation meetings alongside the Director of Development and other staff as needed
  • Attend monthly Development Committee Meeting and Board Meeting as requested by the Director of Development and produce minutes as needed.
    • Research and identify conferences, events, and other opportunities to generate new donor leads
    • Work with the Development team on the organization’s year end annual appeal, particularly creating mailing lists from the database, coordinating with board members on their contact lists, coordinating with the Communications team on the e-blast
  • Manage and serve as the lead point of contact for CFR’s Associate Board
    • Create and maintains dossiers on each board member
    • Schedule and attends all meetings and events
    • Keep agenda and minutes records for all meetings and events
    • Plan all events with Associate Board leadership - providing staff support and ensuring that all external communications are branded and on point with CFR Communications standards
    • Provide fundraising best practices education and guidance to assist Associate Board members in achieving fundraising success
    • Works with Associate Board to recruit new members

Fundraising Events (Annual Benefit and other events with a fundraising/donor prospect & stewardship goal):

  • Work closely with the Director of Development in the logistics and planning of CFR’s annual Benefit and other events within the department.
  • Work with the graphic designer and Communications team on the creation of event materials (i.e. Save the Date, Advance Letter/Sponsorship Form, Invitations, Program Journal, and Digital Journal)
  • Track all donations and pledges for the event on a master tracker and follow up with pledges
  • Produce financial reports for board members consisting of contributions from their networks
  • Produce reports from database to create mailing lists and to track fundraising progress
  • Coordinate with board members on their contact lists for gala outreach and mailing
  • Work with the Director on table arrangements and guest lists
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for vendors
  • Assisting with guest check-in and cash call
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Director of Development

Donor Database Management / Gift Processing & Acknowledgements:

  • Primary Staff member responsible for managing and updating the donor database including but not limited to: recording all donor information and producing all donor/prospect reports needed by Development team
  • Process all contributions (i.e. enter into database, produce and send acknowledgment letters within accepted protocols)
  • Work with Finance team on gift reconciliations, maintain records in accordance with audit requirements and assist in the annual audit as needed
  • Produce all donor/prospect reports needed for fundraising execution and strategy development
  • Create mailing lists for fundraising campaigns and produce mail merges for both email and print outreach and solicitations
  • Update the database in real time/ annually including:
    • Working with Board members to update individual lists
    • Update all elected officials (city and state) and government contacts
    • Solicit updated information from existing contacts
    • Enter all potential new Institutional funders/donors
    • Enter/update all organizational vendors
    • Track all interactions and deadlines with current and prospective donors in the database

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participation in or take responsibility for any additional assignments from the Director of Development
  • Potential to hire, train and supervise a Development Intern if deemed needed by the Director of Development
  • Working partially remote and partially in office as required by the Director of Development
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 - 4 + years experience in nonprofit fundraising/philanthropy, event planning experience is a plus
  • Strong communications skills, both written and spoken
  • Experience with CRM/database management
  • Experience with relationship and stakeholder management
  • Discretion with confidential and sensitive information
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Applications (primarily Google Docs and Google Sheets) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ability to be resourceful, nimble, and flexible by working on a small team
  • Experience with project management and seeing projects through to completion
  • Strong work ethic and dedication to the mission of CFR
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, values of teamwork

Annualized Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
