The Snow College construction program prepares students for a career in the building design and construction industry. Students obtain education in drafting, designing, estimating, scheduling, building science, project management, materials & methods, and construction safety. Alongside construction theory, students are immersed in a hands-on learning environment with access to a 12,000 sq.ft. shop space. Students work alongside instructors to design, fabricate, and build a multitude of projects from furniture, millwork, carpentry, cabinetry, masonry, concrete, electrical, HVAC, etc

- Associate degree in Construction, Engineering, or Architecture.
- 3 years construction experience as a Project Manager overseeing project estimates, schedules, facilities management, OSHA and methods of construction.
- General Contractors License or willingness to acquire the license within the 1 st year of hire.
- Prior teaching experience in High School or Higher Education in a building construction related field.
- Canvas experience or other Learning Management System for education.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Project scheduling, CAD/Autodesk, and CNC software, and laser design and operation.
- Comfortable learning new technology and programs.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and work with students from a diverse background.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, lift 50 lbs, work in various weather extremes, and climb ladders.
- Experience with and commitment to networking with industry and prioritizing industry connections to the program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in a construction-related fields such as Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture.
- Five years construction experience with a minimum of two years hands-on experience and two years managerial experience on large commercial projects.
- 3 years U.S. Higher Education teaching experience in a building construction-related field
- Multi language ability a plus.
- The selection process will place emphasis on the applicant's potential for contributions in teaching, applied research, and service to the department and college.
- Teach theory courses such as construction estimating, scheduling, materials & methods, building science, project management, and construction safety.
- Teach fall, spring and summer semesters on an eleven-month, ongoing contract.
- Serve as a coach/advisor for student competitions such as SkillsUSA and NAHB.
- Assume responsibilities as a full-time faculty member, including departmental and curriculum planning/assessment, professional and scholarly development, institutional and community service, and student recruitment and advisement.
- Carry a full teaching load per semester (15 Fall/15 Spring) face-to-face. Summer teaching will be performed online alongside service to the department.
- Instruct and encourage successful completion for all students, regardless of background, including varying levels of construction experience.
- Teach courses through a variety of delivery modes, such as face-to-face, and hybrid.
- Plan, develop, administer, and assess curriculum that aligns with Utahs Technical Education Construction Technology program.
- Develop and update Construction syllabi, courses, and curriculum.
- Effectively utilize the Canvas course management software in all classes.
- Recruit potential students (high schools CTE Pathways and high school visits and other such activities.
- Maintain and improve the facility for a professional and inviting learning environment.
- Assist in developing new industry and community partnerships
- Participate in campus-wide committees and service to the campus and community at large
- Other duties as assigned by Department Chair, Dean, or Vice President.
