PURPOSE
This union position is responsible for maintenance, repair, and modifications to plant facilities and equipment and documenting findings for all maintenance, repairs, or testing, and reporting any discrepancies. You will also perform daily tasks following the Companys safety, environmental, and operating policies and procedures.
The incumbent will start on dayshfit until trained and qualified to work independently. That process normally takes about a year. Once training is completed the incumbent will work Swingshift hours: Sunday -Wednesday 2 pm to 12:30 am - this union position also has an extra $2.25 per hour shift differential wage. Weekly pay.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform scheduled predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and project support of mechanical equipment;
- Responsible for performing daily maintenance work schedule attainment, data recording and reporting of work orders;
- Responsible for the accuracy of Mechanical PM procedures and providing feedback to the document owner;
- Responsible for compliance with all Bayer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), data recording, and reporting of work orders;
- Communication with all departments to schedule and follow-up on activities;
- Support and comply with Bayer Berkeley's commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection initiatives and programs. Take part in safety meetings as required, and advises relevant personnel (e.g. supervisor, etc.) of any non-conforming conditions.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires high school diploma, or GED plus minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience, or completion of technical school / accredited 2-year program or applicable military experience AND a minimum of two (2) years of field experience;
- Thorough understanding of Process Control Systems (PSC), Distributed Control System (DCS), and Building Automation System (BAS);
- Able to read and understand P&ID diagrams, simple electrical diagrams, operating instructions, and standard operating procedure (SOP);
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift, scissor-lift, JLG;
- Ability to work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high-pressure liquids and gasses, steam, and moving machinery;
- General knowledge of shop tools and safe operation;
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend English in order to understand written and verbal instructions, SOPs, etc.;
- Follow directions, written or verbal;
- Acceptable attendance and performance;
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required (including 10-hour shifts as needed);
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
- Work independently and self-directed with minimal supervision;
- Detail-oriented with the ability to demonstrate good record-keeping practices;
- Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations;
- Computer skills required, use of laptop, tablet, HMI, PLC required, including knowledge of
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, MODA;
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 350 lbs. with assistance;
- Must be able to withstand frequent repetitive movement, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing (ladders) and sitting;
- Must be able to wear protective clothing (PPE) as required;
- Must be able to work at heights, around moving machinery, and with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and drafts;
- Must be able to identify color-coded labels;
- Must be able to pass an eye exam includes testing for near vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
- Must meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist;
- Hepatitis B vaccine recommended.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient knowledge of other trades (Instrumentation, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC/R);
- SAP experience is strongly preferred.
Employees can expect to be paid a union wage of $48.66 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
