CAD Designer

Job Description

As a CAD Designer, you will create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks for new and existing parts, assemblies, and tooling. You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that designs meet functional and manufacturability requirements. Additionally, you will update and revise drawings based on feedback, testing, and manufacturing requirements, while maintaining a well-organized CAD file structure and version control within the Document Control System.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams for design validation.
  • Update and revise drawings based on feedback and manufacturing needs.
  • Maintain organized CAD file structure and version control.
  • Interface with procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams for smooth design-to-production transitions.
  • Assist in creating manufacturing process documents and assembly instructions.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by analyzing labor data and suggesting workflow optimizations.
  • Audit labor time on Job Router documents against actual assembly labor.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D and 2D design.
  • Experience in creating bills of material (BOM).
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and documentation writing.
  • AS Degree or Technical Certification in Mechanical Design or Drafting.
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing or electromechanical design.
  • 3 years of experience with SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of valves, switches, and applications in military and aircraft industries.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Syteline 10 system.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Background in small-batch or custom fabrication.
Work Environment

This position is a hybrid role involving both office and shop floor work. You will work closely with a team consisting of one engineering manager, one mechanical engineer, one manufacturing engineer, and one drafter. As a backfill for a long-standing employee, this role is urgent to fill. The work environment involves interfacing with technicians and gathering labor data on the shop floor. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
