Process Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer to lead process design and safety reviews, drive process improvements, and design and develop chemical processes for new and existing products. You will conduct process simulations and modeling to optimize production efficiency, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and implement safety measures. Your role includes developing and maintaining process documentation, troubleshooting process issues, and staying updated with industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct process design and safety reviews to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance yield, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Design and develop chemical processes for new and existing products.
  • Conduct process simulations and modeling to optimize production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality control.
  • Perform process hazard analyses and implement safety measures.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance yield and reduce costs.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical support to production teams.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Lead in setting safety expectations and standards for the department.
  • Support and promote the initiatives of the Responsible Care Management System.
  • Participate in Preliminary Hazard Reviews, Process Hazard Analysis, and Operational Readiness Inspections.
  • Lead or participate in root cause investigations of safety incidents as required.
  • Participate in daily tailgate meetings and SHREQ subcommittees.
  • Serve as a backup on DCS operation and administration in cooperation with the production Controls Engineer.
  • Support implementation of control strategy enhancements for improved process control and efficiency.

Work Environment

The position is based in a specialty chemical manufacturing company specializing in chemical manufacturing additives. The work environment includes collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to safety standards, and involvement in safety and process improvement initiatives.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.
