Mechanic Supervisor - Londonderry, NH

1st shift

JOB MISSION:

Responsible to manage, coach, develop, and coordinate activities for direct reports. Play an active role in identifying, investigating and implementing ways to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency. Uses Lean expertise in the development of new ideas and/or initiatives and actively coaches and develops direct reports in Lean concepts. Ability to make critical strategic business decisions relating to the goals and objectives of the factory and to domestic manufacturing.

  • Independently uses Lean Expertise in the development of new ideas and/or initiatives. Actively coaches and develops direct reports in Lean concepts. Is viewed as a resource by peers and upper management.
  • Recognizes and anticipates potential problems. Uses problem solving methodology to resolve issues including production and quality. Actively coaches associates and leverages each opportunity to engage associate in a developmental discussion.
  • Has a proven track record of being innovative and contributing to problem resolution on a more global level.
  • Provides timely feedback to associates and leverages each opportunity to engage associate in a developmental discussion. Recognizes the needs of the organization and makes recommendations for coaching and developing staff to fulfill those needs.

  • Demonstrates solid organizational skills. Breaks down assignments into sequential steps, milestones. Meets assigned deadlines. Plays an active role in identifying, investigating and implementing ways to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency. Requires moderate supervision to work through most projects.
  • Confer with personnel, such as management, engineering, quality control, and customer, to coordinate work activities, resolve associate issues, or identify and review resource needs.
  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
  • Monitor associates' work levels and review work performance.
  • Counsel associates about work-related issues and assist associates to correct job-skill deficiencies.
  • Examine objects, systems, or equipment and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Meet with vendors or suppliers to discuss products used in repair work.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide associate safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Compile operational or personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair or maintenance statistics, or test results.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration, coordinating purchasing and documentation and monitoring departmental expenditures.
  • Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
  • Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, or job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points for workers.
  • Experience with repair or maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand or power tools, hydraulic presses or shears, or welding equipment.
  • Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, or outside contractors.
  • Review, evaluate, accept, and coordinate completion of work bid from contractors.
  • Develop or implement electronic maintenance programs or computer information management systems.
  • Design equipment configurations to meet personnel needs.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3-5 plus years of experience in manufacturing process or a related area required. College degree preferred.
  • Strong demonstration of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing process.
  • Proven ability to think critically and objectively.
  • Ability to work with a variety of different types of learning styles and personalities.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (WORD and EXCEL) and e-mail preferred.
