Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of water and waste disposal systems. Performs skilled level duties under limited supervision within all facilities of the District
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform skilled and specialized duties in the installation, maintenance, repair and alteration of water lines, drain lines, plumbing fixtures, sewer and similar facilities and equipment.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance projects.
- Install, inspect and troubleshoot plumbing systems; maintain operational water lines by repairing leaking lines, domestic hot water systems, dripping faucets, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, showers and hose bibs.
- Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heaters, domestic hot and cold water lines, sump pumps and sewage pumps.
- Monitor, inspect and install regulators to maintain proper water pressure and avoid damaging lines.
- Assist in planning and complete installation of new plumbing fixtures.
- Interpret plumbing plans and specifications to assure conformity with codes and established health and safety regulations.
- Determine requirements for parts, materials, supplies, tools and equipment; present recommendations to supervisor for approval; check and test new equipment.
- Complete and maintain work orders through the district work order software to include labor and purchases.
- Snow removal as required.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with staff, public and outside vendors

- Will be required to read and understand diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals and schematic diagrams. Responsible for ordering parts, supplies and equipment from industrial catalogs and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements: Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. Will be required to provide standard hand tools to complete work within job classification.
Abilities: Plumbing installation, maintenance and repair skills. Ability to perform preventative maintenance according to published guidelines and codes. Reads and interprets complex written or printed materials such as schematics, blueprints, building plans, charts, diagrams, maps or instructional materials. Uses tools or equipment associated with the plumbing trade with expertise acquired through extensive experience and/or specialized training. Ability to examine and evaluate data. Presenting alternative actions in relation to the evaluation is frequently involved. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions; to compute ratio and proportion, and percentage; to calculate surfaces, volume, weights, and measures. Must be able to acquire knowledge of topics related to work classification. Must present a professional demeanor that follows the District Code of Ethics.
Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, move and lift heavy objects.
Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Diploma graduate of appropriate trade school or technical college in plumbing with additional courses in plumbing and/or waste water systems is desirable. Five (5) years as a journeyman plumber. (Some experience may be waived by appropriate schooling along with demonstrated proficiency in completed courses.)
