ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Water Services Electrician position performs Journeyman-level skilled electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems up to 12,470 volts for primarily commercial and industrial applications. This includes troubleshooting complex motor control wiring, installing and repairing equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) standard, and following industry standards of the electrical trade.
An Electrician at this level has competency working with equipment in the electrical utility, mining, or a commercial/industrial environment. Knowledge and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for both 600V level and Medium Voltage levels.
Position Details:
- This position will work within the Water Production Division.
- Multiple vacancies currently exists in the Water Treatment Plants and Remote Facilities.
- Work assignments are received by Electrical Crew Chief, Lead Electrician, sketches, blueprints, verbally, and through work orders.
- Certain assignments may include electronics metering, instrumentation and working with various voltages.
- This position also trains new and current staff as needed.
SALARY
$35.08 - $40.61 per hour base wage. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Additional compensation for Unit 2 positions includes:
- Shift differential pay is available for hours worked during nights and weekends.
- Standby is currently compensated at $2.50 per hour.
- Callout requests and responses are paid at time and a half normal hourly wage.
- Paid time off includes 13.5 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 15 sick days and personal leave days.
- 401(a), 3.62% employer contribution of base wage for Unit 002 employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a recognized four-year electrical apprenticeship program, or equivalent training.
OR three years of experience as a skilled electrician.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
Working conditions and environment may require:
Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
Working in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, and equipment enclosures.
Working at heights up to 100 feet.
Walking for prolonged periods which may include walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.

These positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
3 years of medium voltage installation, service, or maintenance.
5 years of experience in/with:
Industrial/commercial electrical work.
Troubleshooting, inspecting, analyzing, and repairing electrical systems.
Industrial automation and process/motor controls.
Reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and one lines.
Additional experience in/with:
The application of NFPA 70E and OSHA.
Water Production Plants, Large Wellfields, or Wastewater Treatment Plants.
Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Working in large industrial environments on large horsepower motors, VFD's etc.
Providing seamless services with direct customer contact.
Reviewing construction plans, making recommendations, and working with contractors and /or service partners.
Computer operation for task completion within asset management system.
The installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of medium voltage (12.47kv, 13.8kv) feeder systems and substations.
Installing or working with S.E.S., transformer, or generator equipment.
