Job Description
Summary
Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent health and safety risks or injuries caused by chemical, physical, and ergonomic factors. Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local rules and regulations and corporate policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned and/or include:
Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local government requirements concerning environmental compliance and employee health and safety in accordance with federal OSHA, Cal-OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), etc.
- Acts as primary point of contact and liaison with all regulatory agencies including but not limited to the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department, South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA, Cal-OSHA, Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), etc.
- Implement site level EH&S programs, policies and procedures and maintains associated documents.
- Manage EH&S duties such as documenting and maintaining applicable records required by permits, conducing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), risk assessments and employee trainings.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor environmental impacts of operations and identify areas for improvement.
- Work closely with corporate EH&S Team to ensure compliance and conformance with corporate EH&S Policies to include but not limited to Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS) and site department leaders to enhance EH&S culture and awareness.
- Advanced knowledge of EH&S regulations, management systems, regulatory agencies, trends and resources.
- Intermediate knowledge in SCAQMD rules and recordkeeping and associated reporting and documentation
- Strong sense of Cal-OSHA General Industry rules and regulations; including but not limited to Injury and Illness Prevention Planning (IIPP), occupational lead, and respiratory protection
- Maintaining injury an illness recordkeeping documents (i.e., Cal-OSHA 300 Logs)
- Familiarity with completing and updating business plans and chemical inventory within the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS)
- Understanding of California's Tiered Permitting program for hazardous waste treatment units under Permit-by-Rule
- Knowledge of industrial wastewater permit compliance and generation of Industrial User Self-Monitoring Reporting
- Implementation of stormwater pollution and prevention planning (SWPPP) and reporting
- Experienced with industrial hygiene concepts and ability to interpret occupational exposure monitoring reports in accordance with applicable Cal-OSHA rules and regulations
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigation
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with different departments
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including by not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, and MS SharePoint
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field
- 5+ years of directly related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; prepare analytical results, charts/graphs
- Intermediate Knowledge of SCAQMD and Cal-OSHA lead standard.
- Working knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems (EMS/HSMS).
- Certifications highly preferred include California Hazardous Waste Generator - Title 22 or Department of Transportation (DOT) - Hazardous Materials Shipper.

Salary Range:
$96,200.00-$128,300.000
