Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a driven and service-oriented Project Engineer to support our growing team in Colorado. You'll contribute to a wide variety of water, wastewater, recycled water, utility infrastructure, and treatment process improvement projects-supporting project managers in leading efforts from planning through construction. In this role, you'll provide both technical and project management support, lead smaller projects or key project components, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and other professionals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Support & Coordination: Assist Project Managers with coordination of project tasks, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. Help manage internal teams and support client interactions.
  • Design & Technical Execution: Prepare designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings for water/wastewater infrastructure and treatment projects with input from senior team members.
  • Project Leadership: Lead smaller projects or task orders and take ownership of technical portions of larger projects. Support construction administration and attend meetings as needed.
  • Documentation & Quality Control: Write technical reports and maintain accurate project records, submittals, and documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional project teams to ensure high-quality and timely project delivery.
  • Client Facing: Assist in leading client meetings with a goal of becoming a client service manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or a related engineering discipline.
  • CO Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in water/wastewater engineering, including exposure to both design and project coordination.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Visual Hydraulics, AFT Fathom, and Infoworks a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience managing tasks, tracking budgets and schedules, and leading project components or smaller projects.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $110,000 and $125,000, depending on education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
